Two mysterious figures of Eastern Block experimental electronic music scene join forces to deliver their first split EP. XXXENTIAL (Belarus) and PΛRΛ (Poland) present “PARADOXXX”. The EP is a direct follow-up to their solo work on xenonyms. Both producers have been busy after releasing on xenonyms with XXXENTIAL releasing an EP on Belarusian Bassota imprint and PΛRΛ delivering DJ mixes released and supported by the likes of Sub FM and JEROME Worldwide among others.
The “PARADOXXX” EP is a great example of work firmly rooted in the DIY culture. The release was entirely produced, mixed and mastered by the authors, who are also responsible for the artwork. Musically, the duo utilizes elements of idm, techno, footwork and grime along with generous aid of vocal sampling, field recording and synth work to create unique soundscapes. While gritty, harsh and distorted it sounds surprisingly emotional at the same time. Both artists are not eager to identify themselves as a part of any particular genre or movement. They tend to stay away from the spotlight, keeping their real names and faces hidden from the public eye.
“We want people to listen to it without the image of the artist already engraved in their minds and without the genre label defining expectations. The focus has to be on music, not on people.”
